About David Dean

Posted on April 21, 2008

I am currently a post-doctoral research student working in the Speech, Audio, Image and Video Technologies Research Laboratory (SAIVT) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). My (recently finished) thesis title was “Synchronous HMMs for Audio-Visual Speech Processing”, and I am currently working on getting a few conference and journal publications from the work presented within.

I also have a number of publications downloadable through QUT’s ePrint service, and a linked-in account if you are into that sort of thing. You can view my photos on Flickr, my bookmarks through del.icio.us, and recently interesting links from Google Reader.

I’ve recently started getting more involved in the FOSS world generally and Ubuntu specifically, and you can check me at launchpad, although it’s mostly bug reports at the moment. I’m also fairly involved in OpenStreetMap.org around Brisbane, Australia and have even helped out a little with the NaviPOWM project so I could use those maps on my Windows Mobile phone.

Now that I’ve finished my PhD it may be time to enter the real world, so if you feel the need to give me a job you can grab a copy of my résumé/CV (PDF download)

Finally, if you wish to contact me you can find my email address here, or my Jabber/Gtalk address here or you could just give me a call on +61 407 151 912, but bear in mind I live in GMT+10 so plan times accordingly.
