I’m not dead

But David Dean is.
David Dean died on the 23rd of September 1838 aged 75 1/2 years and was buried in the Newburgh Cemetery in Livonia, Wayne County Michigan. His gravestone reads: “DAVID DEAN, Formerly of Orange Co., N.Y.: DIED Sept. 23, 1838, Aged 76 years”. A bronze plaque placed on the bottom of the gravestone by the Sarah Ann Cochran Chapter of the ‘Daughter’s of the American Revolution’ states simply that he was a soldier of the Revolutionary War; 1775-1783.
Troy D. Schmidt is compiling a history of the Dean family in early Michigan and New York, USA. He is especially looking for descendants of David DEAN (1763-1838) and his wife Phebe. I wonder if my family is related?

I am Shirley (Rose) Dean Morgan and was born in Harlan County KY. b. 1943 My birth certificate just says Rose Dean. Shirley is a nickname which is a long story. I published a book about my life which explaines how I got the name Shirley.
My father was David aka Dave Dean, b. 1890, Lee County Va. He had five wives, Maggie Harber, Gracie , Mary Owens. Vestia Jones and Nora Tuttle.
My grandfather was Floyd Dean, b. 1862, Lee County Va. Wife Angelia Sargent.
My great grandfather was Ira Dean, b. 1835 Lee County Va. Wife Lucinda Barbour.
My great great grandfather’s name was illigable (UNKNOWN DEAN) Wife Margaret, who was born in 1800. I came to a dead end at that point. I hope we can be of help to each other.

Shirley, I’m afraid I don’t think I can help you much. Other than searching the web for other David Deans I haven’t really done any research into my Dean family ancestors. Perhaps if you visit Troy’s site linked above he can help you.
